Page 1 of 3 What a great summer we’ve had (despite the weather!), both in terms of playing and new members, due largely to the website. Many new members have joined, Welcome to the club and some of them have gone straight into the teams. There has also been a large increase in the number of juniors – we’re now up to 80! This has gone hand in hand with recent coaching improvements, and we are experimenting with Adult coaching too. The website, is being upgraded and a new interactive version will be on line early next year, which is an exciting development. As you will read in this newsletter club teams have done extremely well this year, particularly the men’s section. The standard of play generally has been improving and this was evident in the successful club tournament held in July. The Club House, courts and grounds need maintaining and we try to make improvements as and when the funds are available and more importantly members are motivated to do it. This summer the felt to the club house roof was replaced, the toilets and kitchen renovated. Much of the general maintenance and repair is done by members (there are a certain few who do most of the work) and we must thank them for there efforts this year. Don’t forget the club doesn’t sleep in the winter. There’s plenty of tennis in the league matches, on club afternoons and on the floodlit evenings. See you down there and on court. Chairman |
